For I Would Walk...

My Story

I'm going to the University of Aberdeen in September and a few months ago I realised it was exactly 500 miles away from where I live. Inspired by a famous proclaimers song, I am going to be walking there and back (1000 miles) over a period of 5 weeks (Around 30 miles per day) starting on the 26th April 2018.

I'll be attempting to raise money for a charity that rescues abandoned, abused and neglected goats, providing them with a good life and a home. Whilst humans are invariably complicated and sparodically miserable, it doesn't take much to make a goat happy.  If you'd rather donate to another charity then there is nothing stopping you and I'd encourage you to let me know and do so in aid of this, a good cause is a good cause after all.

Thanks in advance to anyone who donates, and who knows, maybe it'll be your door I'll eventually be falling down at.

Update: I managed to complete the 1000 miles in the afternoon of the 31st May en route from Leicester to Northampton and finally made it back home on the 1st June at 10pm, making it a total of 1059 miles in 37 days before falling down on the floor rather than at any particular door. It was the craziest adventure of my life to date and I'm really grateful for all the donations, I was overwhelmed by the surge in support in the final few days after a series of vegan websites picked up on the story without my knowledge. It's now worked out at over a pound per mile and I couldn't be happier for the goats, who I will be down to see shortly. Forget walking though, I'll probably splash out on a train ticket or something.
